The Shamrock Blog

Welcome to the Neighborhood!

HDR recently announced they plan to move their global headquarters to The Capitol District!  The engineering and architectural firm will be building on what is now a parking lot located between 11th and 12th Streets, Dodge and Capitol Avenue, bringing approximately 900 day time employees downtown.  The proposed headquarters will be between 18 and 20 stories and approximately 280,000 square feet.

Shamrock Development is very excited as we feel we can tailor some of our plans to complement HDR’s use and development of The Capitol District as a whole.

Construction is Underway at The Capitol District!

We have been busy finalizing financing and pre construction details on The Capitol District and are excited to announce the ground breaking has started!  The complexity of the shared infrastructure of the mixed use project, which includes a full service, 333-room Marriott Hotel, 218 up-scale apartments and 80,000 SF of retail, caused a delay a few delays in our schedule but we plan to have the hotel and apartments open in the spring of 2017.

The Most Magical Season

Downtown Omaha is beginning to look a lot like Christmas with more than 40 blocks of twinkling lights and storefronts with Holiday Displays.  The Thanksgiving Lighting Ceremony kicked off the Holiday Lights Festival which also includes Sounds of the Season, Ice Skating Rink, the Family Festival and The New Years Eve Fireworks Spectacular.  In addition to the Holiday Lights Festival there is Christmas at Union Station, The Omaha Symphony Christmas Spectacular at The Holland Center, The Nutcracker, and many more events. The events showcase all that Downtown Omaha has to offer while celebrating this Magical Season.  Season's Greetings
